Bernard Frederick PICKNETT was born in
July 1896 in Fulham. He was the son of William Allan PICKNETT and Mary STEBBINGS.
He married Ethel May PROWSE on 30th April 1919 at the Church of St Mary the Virgin in Hampstead.
She was born in August 1894 in Poplar, London, and died in July 1983 in Southbourne. She was the
daughter of Sydney John PROWSE and Emily Caroline Saunders MASON.

Bernard was a Civil Servant, who was promoted to
Director of Sea Transport in the Ministry of War Transport by his retirement in 1950. He was awarded a CBE in 1944 for services
in the planning of the landings in Normandy while Deputy Director of Sea Transport.

Bernard and Ethel
had two children:
i. Alan John PICKNETT (b
1921); married (1) Barbara Jocelyne ROBB (b 1928 in Australia); (2) Elizabeth Christina BAKER (b October
1931 in Bulawayo).
ii. Kenneth Brian PICKNETT (b 7 August 1924 in Kingston upon Thames, d 8 July 2007 in Wallasey);
married (1) Audrey Margaret JONES (b 31 August 1931 in Wallasey) on 28 February 1953 in St James’ Church, New Brighton;
(2) Elizabeth Ann SELLARS.
Bernard died in June 1960 in
Southbourne near Bournemouth.
